Can one business transform an urban area? Craft breweries are showing that pasta makers, bike shops, and restaurants and bars lead to employment and urban renewal in Brooklyn, NY [see article, attached].

For the Gold Coast to benefit from the brewery boom, craft breweries could be incentivised to locate their operations in areas where urban renewal is a challenge (Gold Coast Hwy, Mermaid Beach / Nerang Street Southport).

While craft breweries in the local area (Burleigh Brewing Company, MT Brewery) win international awards, their headquarters are kept in light industrial estates. Manufacturers like brewers typically pay workers more than service businesses like restaurants or shops. proving good for local economies and beer aficionados alike.
